Adrian “Essien” Hylton

Name: Adrian ‘Essien’ Hylton

Birth Place: Edmonton (Somewhere roadside on the A406 next to North Mid Hospital)

Shirt No: Lucky 13

Height: 6 foot (after a few ab and lower back crunches)

Weight: 14+ stone summer break weight. 15+ stone fighting/footballing weight

Bio: After a long stint out of football, Adrian Hylton got a long awaited call from The People’s Team. Rewind 20 years, it was Jubilee Park in Edmonton where a young Hylton began to craft his trade. Dribbling around cones unsuccessfully BUT managing to block tackle vehicles became his skill.

POWER is money, just a shame the coins were spent on Street Fighter II trying to clock it with Zangief. Coaches noticed this power, Roberto Carlos took note too after lurking in the dark corners of the Henry Barrass Stadium.

This mammoth pitch within Jubilee Park was where he found his powerful shooting ability (with a 60% accuracy rate) and the youthful WCW fan Matthew Sackey and world class keeper Craig Peters. It would be a few years yet before he met the other Edmonton upstarts who would feature in The People’s Team…

Moving from N9, to study meant the dream was over, temporarily. After many menacing texts from The Champ and inspirational phonecalls from Ghana’s heroes – the now mature Matthew Sackey (The People’s Chairman) and Michael Essien, Hylton is back on the field.

Strengths: Huh? He IS strength!

Weaknesses: Disney movies (not cartoons) that have social commentary, racial tensions, interracial comradery in sport and dying animals.

For example…

Style: Strong tackle, positional sense, eye for a pass. A mix between black stallions Sol & Kevin Campbell and Essien. The grace, timing and reading of the game like Beckenbauer.

Quotes: “Where’s The Shape?” & “Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon. I’m open. Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon… Jon, Jon, Jon, Jon?! Jon, Jon… great goal Jon!”

Football Heroes: Michael Essien. Dennis Bergkamp… and yes Kevin Campbell.

Interesting Fact: Once won the European Cup with Notts County on Championship Manager 91/92 on the Commodore Amiga.
